DISSONANCE is an interactive dance work choreographed and performed by Elena Montes. The long-form solo performance, set to an instrumental musical piece, interweaves contemporary choreography with a stage lit to reflect and amplify the performer’s movements through light and shadow.

The result was a visual dialogue between the human form and its projected counterpart, the shadow, and the self, amplifying themes such as loss and isolation in the digital age.

DISSONANCE was performed at Bessy Theatre (Sarah Lawrence College, 2024) as a culmination of Elena’s dance journey throughout college.
