In her debut chapbook, Wishbones, Elena Montes weaves together fragments of memory and image, reconstructing a childhood shaped by distance—between cultures, languages, and lived realities. Against the backdrop of her father’s struggle with alcoholism and her parents’ separation, the work traces a nonlinear path from adolescence to adulthood, exploring intimacy, identity, and the search for belonging.
